What Kinako does not collect

Kinako has no account system, no advertising, no analytics SDK, and no developer-operated backend. Kinako does not collect your decks, cards, study history, recordings, photos, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers.

There is no sign-up, so there is no user database, no profile attached to you, and no server-side record for anyone to breach, sell, or subpoena.

Your library and iCloud

Your library is stored on your device. If you enable iCloud, Apple synchronizes it through your own private iCloud account so it can appear on your Apple devices. Kinako's developer does not operate that storage and does not receive a copy of your library.

Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. You can turn Kinako's iCloud sync off at any time in iOS Settings, and your library remains on the device.

Camera, photos, and microphone

Kinako asks for camera or photo access only when you choose to scan or attach an image. It asks for microphone access only when you choose to answer a card aloud. Recognition runs on the device, and the temporary recording is deleted after transcription. Study audio and card content are not uploaded.

Every one of these permissions is optional. Declining any of them leaves the rest of the app fully usable.

Voice-model download

Natural voice playback can download an optional open-source model after you approve an in-app prompt that states the size first. No deck, card, or recording is included in that request. As with any internet download, the model host may process standard connection information such as an IP address under its own privacy terms.

If you never approve that prompt, the model is never downloaded, and the built-in system voices continue to work.

Notifications and widgets

Reminder scheduling and widget snapshots are created on your device. Kinako does not use push-notification tracking or remote marketing notifications.

Purchase

Apple processes purchases and restores through StoreKit. Kinako receives only the entitlement result needed to unlock what you bought; it does not receive your payment-card details. Kinako sells one optional non-consumable, Kinako Complete — there are no subscriptions or automatic renewals.

This website

The provider hosting this site may process ordinary request logs, such as IP address, browser information, and request time, to operate and secure the site. Kinako does not add analytics, advertising pixels, cookies, or contact-form tracking to these pages.

If you email support, that message and your email address are processed by the mail provider so a reply can be sent. Support messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve the request.

Children and general audiences

Kinako is a general-audience study tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Turn iCloud sync on or off for Kinako at any time in iOS Settings.
• Export a full copy of your library from Settings, in a readable format.
• Delete your library by deleting the decks, or by removing the app — which removes its on-device data.
• Decline the camera, photo, microphone, notification, and voice-model prompts and keep using the app.

Because Kinako does not operate an account or collect a user database, there is normally no server-side record for Kinako to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated before the new practice begins.
